Depending on the violation and your circumstances, that could have consequences beyond the amount printed on the citation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is Texas DPS Operation CARE?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Operation CARE is a traffic safety enforcement campaign used during periods when Texas roads are expected to be particularly busy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Labor Day 2026, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced that additional troopers would be on Texas highways from September 4 through September 7. That included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>5,233 speeding citations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1,594 citations for no insurance<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>More than 346 seat belt and child restraint citations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>211 DWI arrests<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>250 arrests on other felony charges<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those numbers tell you just how significant one of these enforcement campaigns can be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When additional troopers are deployed statewide specifically to look for traffic violations, drivers naturally face a greater chance of being stopped if an officer believes a violation occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Got a Speeding Ticket During Operation CARE?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speeding was clearly one of the primary targets of the Labor Day campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you received a speeding ticket, I recommend understanding your options before paying it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many people see the fine printed on a ticket and assume paying it is the quickest way to make the problem disappear.
